AI Letters and Billing Suggestions Are Live in Moyae

The last patient leaves at 4:30. By 5:15, half the staff is still at their desks. Not because anything went wrong, but because there are six care team letters to write and a stack of encounters to code. The letters are always the first thing to slip. A referring optometrist sends over a patient, your doctor sees them, and the letter back sits in a queue until someone has ten minutes to type it up. Sometimes that's tomorrow. Sometimes it's never.

We wanted to fix both problems at the same time.

What We Released

Two new AI features are available now to all Moyae customers: AI-generated care team letters and AI billing code suggestions for ICD-10 and E&M workflows.

One-Click Care Team Letters

The letter tool drafts a coordination-of-care letter from a patient encounter in one click. It pulls in what the receiving provider actually needs: abnormal findings, procedures, anything worth flagging. The tone is professional and the format is clean. You're not filling out a template or copying from the chart.

If you've been meaning to send more letters back to referring providers but it keeps getting pushed, this is what we built it for. The AI writes the first draft. Your team reviews it and sends.

Billing Code Suggestions

The billing feature looks at what's documented in the encounter and surfaces up to nine ICD-10 codes as clickable suggestions in the UI. Staff can add a code in one click. It can also recommend an E&M level and update the charge list.

These are suggestions, not auto-submissions. Codes show up for review, and your clinical team decides what goes on the claim. You can turn suggestions on or off per user role in settings.

How It Works

The suggestions come from a large language model optimized for ophthalmology-specific clinical and coding data. We built it as a suggestion layer on purpose. The AI does the analysis, your team makes the final call.

Why Both at Once

Documentation and billing are two sides of the same problem. They pull doctors and staff away from the patient. Letters pile up. Coding errors slow billers down. It all stacks up after the last appointment, and nobody wants to be at their desk at 6pm writing a letter that should have taken 30 seconds. We built both features to get rid of that backlog.
